The second-seeded Carleton University Ravens defeated the fourth-seeded University of Calgary Dinos, 101-79, to claim their sixth-straight national title on Sunday evening at Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre.
Despite a valiant effort by the Dalhousie University Tigers, they were edged by the reigning champions the Carleton Ravens 76-66. Carleton will now face the Calgary Dinos in the final, who upset the first-seeded Ryerson Rams by a score of 98-87.
For the third time in three days, the UBC men's basketball team hit the court in Doug Mitchell Sports Centre for the CIS Final 8 Championship. The ’Birds beat the University of Ottawa Gee-Gee's to capture fifth place.

Despite their best performance of the year, the Thunderbirds men’s basketball team lost in overtime to the first-seeded Ryerson University Rams on Thursday evening. UBC had not hosted the men’s basketball National Championship in 44 years.

Men’s rugby is set to host the University of California, Berkeley Golden Bears in the final leg of the 2016 World Cup series this Sunday. UBC will have an advantage as Berkeley will need to make up a five-point deficit.
The CIS Final 8 tournament is off to a great start. Carleton University and Dalhousie University will face each other in the CIS semifinal. Calgary and McGill are next to take the floor before the Thunderbirds take on Ryerson.
A St. Patrick's Day's sold out quarterfinal game where UBC looks to upset the first place seed, followed by an after-party not to be remembered, is going to go down in campus history. Win or lose, it's to show what campus culture could be.
