Exam schedules are out. It's that fateful day when you discover whether you'll be able to fly home — or to somewhere hot and sunny — or if you'll be stuck studying in your small, dark room until the end of April.

It's that time of year again. Cry of joy or because you have an exam on the last possible day of exams. While The Ubyssey wishes everyone a happy exam schedule, maybe don't ruin your long weekend by checking your fate just yet.

On the AMS elections voting site, after you’ve voted for all of the candidates you’ll notice some Tumblr blogs and other websites, mainly dedicated to providing blog-style elections coverage. Most of them are legit.

Nominations for the annual AMS elections open tomorrow, January 10. Students can serve one-year terms on the AMS executive team, the Board of Governors (BoG), the Senate and the Student Legal Fund Society (SLFS). Any UBC student can nominate themselves for these positions.

Turpel-Lafond’s departure comes three months after a CBC article said her claims to Cree ancestry do not appear to match historical records or anecdotes from Norway House Cree Nation community members, where Turpel-Lafond said her father is from.

This year, COP 27 took place in Egypt from November 6–18 and I attended as an official observer. On a personal scale, it’s difficult to begin to process and digest the incomprehensible statistics I’m confronted with every time I look at the news. I often feel like a single drop of water trying to terminate a forest fire.

At the UBC Board of Governors annual Christmas spa night, merriment and joy were in full swing. The recent tuition increase was going to do many good things for the school (we can’t think of any right now, but that’s beside the point), and the Board was being rewarded with a bigger holiday party than had ever taken place at the Norman MacKenzie house.
