The Ubyssey is currently looking to hire a Video Producer for the year! Over the past several years, our paper's video presence has grown from a small YouTube channel into a multi-platform vessel for laughs and journalism, built by a team of student videographers with a passion for journalism.
As Video Producer, you'll be in charge of not only planning, shooting and editing a video per week, you’ll also be in charge of a cadre of volunteers and an associate video editor! The producer role is creative and admin, wrapped in one.
Position Title: Video Producer
Location: Vancouver, BC (UBC) / Adapted to accommodate telework.
Duration: Oct 2020 – Apr. 2021 (extension contingent on re-election).
Salary: Contract, $14.60/hr, 30 hrs/week.
Requirements: Must be a UBC student.
Responsibilities:
Create regular video content for The Ubyssey,
Collaborate with and support a stable of Video volunteers, including mentoring to those new to the field,
Work with other sections to create accompanying video content for appropriate articles,
Explore and potentially expand The Ubyssey’s video presence on various platforms (TikTok, Twitter, Instagram, etc.).
Qualifications
- Experience producing (i.e planning, shooting, editing) video(s) professional in quality if not in content,
- Knowledge of one or more major video editing softwares (Final Cut, Premiere Pro, etc.),
- Ability to produce videos in a range of styles, including profiles, comedic skits and short, informational pieces.
- Prior experience managing is not necessary, but is considered an asset.
