The AMS is hosting a debate for candidates running in the provincial election to represent Vancouver-Point Grey today, Friday, October 18, from 6–7 p.m. in the Norm Theatre in the Life Building. The debate will be moderated by us, The Ubyssey, UBC's independent student newspaper.
We'll be asking candidates questions about student issues such as affordability, housing, transit and more. If you have questions you'd like to see candidates answer, email us at eic@ubyssey.ca.
As of press time, Dr. Devyani Singh (BC Green Party) and Vancouver-Hastings candidate Niki Sharma (BC NDP, a proxy for Vancouver-Point Grey candidate David Eby) are confirmed to attend the debate. Vancouver-Point Grey BC Conservative Party candidate Paul Ratchford's attendance is to be announced.
We'll be live-tweeting it on X, and we'll have debate coverage up on our website early on October 19 so you can have some insight before you head to the polls.
