Solomon Yi-Kieran has been elected as the next AMS VP external after running uncontested.
Yi-Kieran ran on a platform centred on improving student loans, transportation and housing.
Yi-Kieran served as a student senator this past year, and campaigned on their experience doing advocacy work with the BC NDP — they plan to leverage these government connections in order to make progress on VP external goals.
"I feel great," they said. "I'm gonna get right to work. I'm gonna focus on elections. I'm gonna make sure that students are making their voices heard [and] that all these goals are happening."
As they ran in both the general and by-election for the VP external role, Yi-Kieran’s term begins on Monday. Yi-Kieran also won a seat on the UBC Vancouver Senate.
