UBC functioning despite snow, issues with transport

Update: UBC has announced that there are no plans to cancel classes or exams tomorrow (December 6). If this changes, they will release an advisory at 6:30 a.m. for those with 8:30 a.m. exams.

The first snowfall of the season has left many in a tight spot as they attempt to get to campus. UBC has issued a weather advisory on its Facebook page saying that all sites of the UBC Vancouver campus are open, but that caution should be used when travelling.

Exams do not start until tomorrow and very few classes are in session today. Students who are unable to attend class will not be penalized.

Heavy snow reported in many areas has led to poor road conditions causing service disruptions to the bus system. As of 11:15 a.m., numerous buses are trapped at West 4th and Alma, West 10th and Alma, Granville and 16th, and Granville and 64th. Nine buses are terminating at Broadway and Commercial. The Skytrain is also experiencing a service disruption, with safety alarms at various stations. While the Canada Line is unaffected, the Expo and Millennium Line are experiencing problems.
