UBC will reopen registration for winter term 2 to accommodate course scheduling changes after the announcement that term 2 would be mainly online.
Students whose courses have changed will have to register once more during the new registration period.
Kate Ross, associate vice president of enrolment services and registrar, acknowledged in an October 7 broadcast email that the announcement has disrupted some courses.
“As indicated in a message from Professor Ono on September 3, the UBC Winter Term 2 session will be primarily online. This requires some departments to update their course schedules,” Ross said in the email.

Departments are in the process of updating their course schedules and will email affected students between October 9–15. Students who don’t receive any emails will not have to take any action.
The new registration period will be October 22–26. UBC will email all students their assigned registration time on October 19.
Students can add term 2 courses at any time, but Ross said registration will be suspended on October 8 to prepare for the upcoming registration window.
“There may be new course sections added to accommodate students learning in different time zones,” Ross said.
Students affected by course changes will be given priority during the new registration period.
