UBC cancelled all in-person learning activities for January 17, due to a weather advisory which predicted up to 20 centimetres of snow in the Lower Mainland tonight.
Instructors are responsible for notifying students of any alternative arrangement or cancellation of their classes tomorrow. This includes whether classes will be moved online or if there will be an asynchronous option provided.
This also comes after around 13 centimetres of snow fell on January 12, which caused the Massey Tunnel to close and severe delays in traffic across the Lower Mainland.
A TransLink advisory noted delays and cancellations to buses and trains are expected and recommended passengers only use the service for essential travel.
The announcement noted that the campus is not closed and “employees who perform necessary work are expected to come to work.”
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
