The AMS recently hired Shilo St. Cyr as the new manager of the Sexual Assault Support Centre (SASC). She is replacing Ashley Bentley, who left the position back in September of this year to take on a new role as the sexual assault intervention and prevention advisor for UBC.
“We are very excited to have [St. Cyr] join our team, so please extend a warm welcome should you see [her] in the offices,” said an email announcement by AMS Communications Manager Kris Anderson.
In her new position, St. Cyr will be overseeing all areas of the SASC’s operation in providing support for sexual assault victims on campus.
St. Cyr assumed the position on November 28 and according to the email announcement, she brings a high level of expertise in the area of mental health, having previously done extensive social work. She also holds a master’s degree in public health from Simon Fraser University.
“[St. Cyr] brings in extensive experience in various support and supervisory positions working in areas of mental health, addictions and homelessness,” said Anderson in the email announcement.
St. Cyr declined an interview at this time, as she wishes to settle into her role before she publicly comments.
