Maclean’s just released its annual Canadian university rankings, which place UBC third in Canada behind top-ranked McGill and the University of Toronto (U of T) in the medical/doctoral category (schools in that category have broad PhD programs — the ranking isn't based on their medical/doctoral studies).
The top six universities — McGill, U of T, UBC, Queen’s, Alberta and McMaster — are unchanged in rank from their 2015 version. Dalhousie moved up a spot to number seven, the University of Ottawa and Western tied for eighth place, and the University of Calgary rounded out the top 10.
The rankings take into account a number of factors, such as student satisfaction — for which UBC placed tenth — and a reputational survey. UBC jumped up a spot to number two in the latter category.
