NDP incumbent David Eby wins Vancouver-Point Grey

BC NDP leader David Eby was reelected for the Vancouver-Point Grey BC legislature seat.

Eby, who is the Vancouver-Point Grey incumbent, beat BC Conservatives' Paul Ratchford and BC Greens' Dr. Devyani Singh.

As of press time, Eby won with 11,798 votes, or 56.7 per cent of the vote. Ratchford and Singh received 7,206 and 1,792, respectively.

Eby has held the seat since 2013 and became premier in 2022 succeeding former BC NDP leader John Horgan. Last election in 2020, the NDP won with 57 seats, followed by the BC Liberals and Greens with 28 and 2 seats, respectively.

In April 2023, the government, under Eby's leadership, has committed committed over $4 billion to the development of new homes and, in August, contributed $300 million for the construction of more than 1,500 beds on UBC’s Vancouver campus by 2029.

Eby did not attend either on-campus election events hosted by the AMS including a Vancouver-Point Grey candidates debate on October 18.

As of press time, the election's results are not final, but the NDP currently lead with 46 seats followed by BC Conservatives with 45 seats and the Greens with 2 seats.
