UBC has largely continued recent COVID-19 trends, new data from the BCCDC dashboard shows.
Between August 13 and August 19, the UBC neighbourhood saw a daily COVID-19 case rate of seven cases per 100,000 residents, a one case-per-day decrease from last week. Test positivity has decreased to one per cent, from three per cent between August 6 and August 12.
In terms of vaccination coverage, the rate at UBC has largely stalled in growth.
Of those ages 18+, 83 per cent have received their first dose, while 72 per cent have received their second. For residents 18–49, 83 per cent have received their first, and 70 per cent have received their second.
The most significant change came in the second dose coverage among those ages 12+ — 72 per cent of residents are now fully vaccinated, a four per cent increase from last week.
The province reported 1,711 new cases of COVID-19 over the weekend. Active cases sit at 5,056 in the province, with 1,223 of those in UBC’s health region, Vancouver Coastal Health. Provincially, 83.2 per cent of people 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 74.9 per cent have received their second.
This morning, the province announced partial mask and vaccine mandates on campus, after weeks of community advocacy.
