Whether you're starting off new classes in your first year or being bombarded with the question of “what are you going to do once you graduate?” in your last year, starting a new school year can be stressful.
On September 20, Vancouver ecoVillage and UBC psychology are hosting an event on campus called “Doggy De-stress” to allow students to come and play with a bunch of dogs to promote mental well-being. The event is free and open to everyone. So whether you can spend five minutes in between classes or an hour frolicking with the little furballs, the pups will be there waiting for you in the Nest's Lev Bukhman Lounge from 10:30 a.m. until noon.
UBC psychology will also be conducting a clinical study about the corresponding effects that dogs have on student stress and mental health. This means that just by playing with dogs, you are also helping out some fellow students.
