I kid you not, ice cream is probably my most consumed food. Remember Buddy from Elf and his obsession with candy and syrup? That is like me — but with ice cream. As a relatively new Vancouverite, I have made it my mission to track down the city’s best ice cream. Take a look at the best places I’ve tried around Vancouver.
Note: The scoops listed here are not directly proportional to the amount of ice cream I ate, they are simply my rating out of five.
This is a good place if you like the classic ice cream flavours. They do everything from waffle cone bowls to banana splits. Bonus: they also have ice cream cakes, so that’s amazing.
What I Tried: Chocolate Swiss Number of Scoops: ???
Although 720 Sweets is actually ranked as one of the better ice cream shops in Vancouver, this may sadly be my least favourite of all the shops I tried. While their presentation of dry ice is something I got really excited about, that was the most climactic part about it. They also only have about six flavours to choose from — what's that all about? 720 Sweets, step up your game!
What I Tried: Milk’ee Number of Scoops: ?
Located in Kitsilano, this little shop is about a 15-minute bus ride from campus and worth every single penny you spend. While it might be a tad overpriced, they have a lot of original flavours. According to their website, all their ice creams are “made in shop using natural and sustainable whole ingredients, sourced locally, seasonally and organically.”
What I Tried: Peanut Butter Number of Scoops: ????
This place may actually beat Rain or Shine. It’s a bit of a trek, but even the pickiest of ice cream eaters — if they exist — will find something here. Earnest Ice Cream is the first ice cream shop to pack their pints into reusable jars, furthering their goal to be a no-waste company.
What I Tried: Salted Caramel Number of Scoops: ?????
Still on my list are Paradiso Italian Gelato, Tangram Creamery and Dolce Amore. If you don’t feel like leaving campus, Qoola and Menchie’s are pretty great as well. Odds are you’ll find me at one of them.
