Are you a graduate student? Are you interested in getting involved in student government? Then consider nominating yourself to an executive role at the UBC Graduate Student Society (GSS)!
The UBC GSS represents 10,000 graduate students in its advocacy to the university, as well as the municipal, provincial and federal governments. The GSS also provides various services, such as peer support, financial aid and subsidies, as well as co-administering the AMS/GSS Health and Dental Plan.
Students elect four paid elected executives: president, vice-president university and academic affairs, vice-president external relations and vice-president students. Those elected will serve in their roles from May 2022 to April 2023.
These roles are paid — the president receives a $23,500 honorarium, while the vice-presidents receive a $20,000 honorarium each.
Nominations are open from January 21 to February 28, 2022. Campaigning runs from February 29 until March 10, and graduate students will head to the polls on March 11 through March 18.
