PadPiper helps students find housing during co-op

PadPiper just launched recently and it is a website which helps co-op students find housing during their internship. At present, they support over 9,000 schools and have over 100 listings on the site.

The platform started out as a project at the University of Waterloo in the summer of 2015. The founders had previous experience in searching for housing during their co-op semesters and wanted to help with the difficulties of finding non-local housing.

Tenancies are between 3 to 12 months and landlords become verified once a student has lived there or if they add a tenant who has lived there. Students pay a holding fee for a space in order to reserve it before they move in. PadPiper does not host tenants and does not handle leases either — that is between the landlord and the student. Students can also connect with other students who are working near them or find out where their classmates are on co-op.

To sign up as a student, all you need is a school email account — your @alumni.ubc.ca email should work.
