Are your hefty library fines reaching the sky but you're still strapped for cash? Worry no more — relieve the burden of your library debt by donating some non-perishable food which will go to fellow UBC students who are in need.
For each food item donated, your fines will be reduced by $2 and up to a maximum of $30. As long as your goods are not open or damaged, all non-perishable goods are welcome.
You get a bonus pat on your shoulder if your items are rich in protein, whole grain, less salt and sugar. Healthier eating means a healthier community! Also keep in mind that canned beans, canned fish, canned meat, pasta and brown rice take the lead as the most wanted goodies.
Time to swing your way to any branch of library circulation desks, from now until April 1 to lift your fine and create some good karma. Now you don't have to avoid the accusatory glare of the librarian, knowing that you play your part in a good cause. Your SSC account and, more importantly, UBC peers will thank you.
