In third year, after a string of bad sexual partners, I abstained for eight months. What I learned was simple and seemingly obvious, but nevertheless important: sex should be a choice. It should make you feel good (while you’re having it and afterwards) and waiting for the right person to avoid sex that makes you feel shameful, sad or lonely is a perfectly fine idea.
