Whozits and whatzits galore at the UBC PRINT Arts & Crafts craft fair

UBC PRINT Arts & Crafts club hosted a two-day craft fair on March 10 and 11. This event featured vendors with items ranging from thrifted clothing and jewelry to stickers and bookmarks.

I headed down to the Nest at around 2 p.m. The booths spanned from the front of CiTR to the end of the giant stairs. Maggie Rogers was playing through a portable speaker on the table for the raffle tickets. They were raffling off gift cards but I didn’t recognize the places, so I decided not to enter.

On my first walk around, I noticed that a lot of booths had earrings. I don’t have my ears pierced but SmileByMelissa and Hippie Drip Jewelry’s earrings definitely made me question why not.

I ended up purchasing two things. The first was a sheet of stickers from sica.co.

Along with stickers, they also sell washi tape and toploaders. Sica.co accepted cash and I had the exact amount of change! It was meant to be.

The second thing I bought was a brown bear candle from Candle Corner.

I almost didn’t buy anything from Candle Corner because I was afraid to burn it. I mean, look how cute it is! The vendor told me that some customers have used the candles as home decor.

Even then, I was still hesitant. Where would I put the candle? Do I have something to put the candle on? How would I know my roommates wouldn’t want to steal it from me?

I took another lap around the Nest and let my decision marinate before I made the e-Transfer.

The club’s Instagram page highlighted each business that took part in the event. I didn’t want to spend much money, so I followed a handful of vendors that were there such as made by mieuon and aerikura.

Even though I hadn't spent too much money, I enjoyed attending the craft fair and look forward to seeing more events from this club in the future.
