UBC Players Club: Deathtrap (November 5–9, 6:30 p.m., The NEST)
The UBC Players Club urges people to “grab a magnifying glass and put on your obnoxiously long trench coats” for their production of Ira Levin’s chilling play within a play, Deathtrap.

Spark Animation: Short Films After Dark (November 8, 7 p.m., Norm Theatre)
Spark partners with the UBC Film Society to produce a program dedicated to exploring animation with darker, mature themes — these works aren’t for the faint of heart.

Discover the Rich History of Hogan’s Alley with Lama Mugabo (November 15, 2:30 p.m.–4:30 p.m., meet at the southwest corner of Union and Main)
Hogan’s Alley was once the heart of Vancouver’s Black community. Guided by community leader Lama Mugabo, participants will see landmarks that mark important aspects of Vancouver’s history.

IndieFest (November 15–23, multiple venues)
This festival celebrates local creatives and amplifies the voices of BIPOC and 2SLGBTQIA+ artists in the opera industry. The festival opens with Eurydice Fragments, a work by UBC alum Teiya Kasahara.

Adventures in Anime (November 17, 7 p.m., Chan Shun Concert Hall)
Featuring music from films like Kiki’s Delivery Service and Princess Mononoke, Vancouver Pops Orchestra brings animated films to life with a 60-piece symphony orchestra.

In this play, two thespians attempt to assemble the First Folio, the original anthology of Shakespeare’s plays, seven years after the playwright’s death. While you’re there, check out the interactive digital touch table interface of the First Folio, developed by Dr. Patrick Parra Pennefather and UBC’s Emerging Media Lab, in the lobby.
