Before receiving his appointment as T-Birds head coach, Symons served as the technical director and head coach of the North Shore Girl’s Soccer Club. There, he established the first Canadian franchise in the Women’s Premier Soccer League.

As she heads into her final months at UBC, Tera is finishing up her kinesiology degree, hopes to hit the pool again sometime soon for a bit of swimming, but most importantly, she’s looking towards the future with bright eyes.
Sunscreen? Check. Water bottles? Check. Absurd idea to go hiking in 33 degree heat? Check! We began the day at 7am to beat the campers and lake-goers heading to Alouette Lake, all hoping to make the day spent in the sweltering sun more manageable.
At the Championship Opening Round, UBC won 12-2 against Olivet Nazarene University before dropping 3-0 and 8-4 decisions to the top-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College Grizzlies from Georgia and Lindsey Wilson College Blue Raiders from Kentucky.

For the members of the UBC tennis sports club, tennis is much more than just a game that they can play with their buddies on the Place Vanier courts after finals. They need to sacrifice their time and energy to play at a much more competitive level.

UBC entered the competition with a second place in NAIA West and played its first game on Friday against the third-seeded College of Idaho Yotes. The 'Birds then conceded a 3-0 to the top-seeded Lewis-Clark State Warriors on Saturday.
We finally got to a point where the hikers coming down all said it would take less than ten minutes for us to reach the top; we had stopped asking about time frame’s because everyone replied with contrasting times and it made us confused and tired.
After Theresa Hanson’s departure for SFU, the Thunderbirds started a year-long search for a new athletics director. That search has finally come to a conclusion with UBC announcing that Gilles Lepine has been named senior director of UBC Athletics.
Last week, the UBC eSports Club finished off the uLoL Campus series by defeating Robert Morris University in the finals and winning a $180,000 scholarship that came with the title. This victory makes them the best collegiate team in North America.
After splits against the Corban University and Lewis-Clark State College on the road, the Thunderbird baseball team picked up three wins and a loss against the College of Idaho Yotes back at home. UBC now holds a conference record of 19-11.
Laura Taylor, a goaltender for the UBC Women’s Hockey Team, has passed away. Taylor, a 33 year old student at the UBC Faculty of Medicine, joined the Hockey team as part of the Thunderbird’s 2015/2016 recruiting class.
“We did a program evaluation and looked at our pattern of results over the last 12 years and we want to raise the bar with the volleyball program. We needed to make a change to do that,” said Gord Hopper.
