After two seasons with the Thunderbirds including one Canada West title, Jadon Cohee made the jump to playing professional basketball overseas with Mgzavrebi-Armia Tbilisia of the Georgia Superleague. More recently, Cohee was chosen to be a part of Canada’s senior national team and will be set to compete at the FIBA Americup in 2022.

From 2004 through 2008, McGuinness led the women’s team to three CIS National Championships while also accumulating 2,523 points along the way, which is still the most amount of points a single player has scored over their career in UBC’s history.

It was a successful day for the UBC Men’s soccer team, with four Thunderbirds being picked in the two rounds of the 2021 Canadian Premier League (CPL) U Sports draft: Thomas Gardner, Christopher Lee, Victory Shumbusho and Jackson Farmer. Making up a quarter of the total selections, these players will now join their respective CPL clubs in training camp.
Thunderbirds swimmer Markus Thormeyer is the first male swimmer from UBC to be named to Team Canada for the rescheduled Tokyo 2020 Olympics, his second Olympics since the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
After 23 years in the UBC baseball program, Terry McKaig has departed for pastures anew, becoming the Director of Development for the BC Cancer Foundation in the Fraser Health Region.

While the Nest reopened in May 2020, recreational sports clubs are still unable to book rooms for club activities due to provincial health orders. Club officials still have access to their rooms but it is limited to one person at a time.
Skate Canada has cancelled 2021 Canadian Tire National Skating Championships, which was planned to occur from February 8-14, 2021 at our own Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre.
