It's easier to look at the last two decades and count the years that the UBC Thunderbirds haven't won both the men's and women's national championships in swimming.
The decade started with the UBC Thunderbirds women's volleyball team in the midst of an un-precedented feat: six straight U Sports National Championships. The 2010s saw the squad become one of the most dominant teams across the country.
From Shrum bowl misery to U Sports glory, the 2010s were a busy decade for Thunderbirds football.
While the result could have been better, the public skate beforehand and the game itself did generate a positive environment for those in attendance.
It’s been one hell of a season for a bunch of Thunderbird teams. From comeback wins to huge upsets and big crowds, some teams are riding on a high note into the winter break. Some others need to go back to the drawing board and figure out what needs to change if there is any hope of making the Canada West playoffs in 2020.

Eli Pasquale, a legend in UVic basketball and a pain for T-Birds players throughout the early 1980s, passed away on November 4th after a battle with cancer. The Olympian helped grow the sport both on the island and throughout the country.
