In today’s press conference, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Minister of Health Adrian Dix discussed the province’s testing strategy as well as its current health care capacity.

The update comes after City of Vancouver officials announced new measures on Sunday to encourage and enforce physical distancing amidst reports many city residents were not taking distancing seriously.

In a press conference today, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry provided updates on the demographics of the current provincial cases and clarified the province’s testing strategy.

At today’s press conference, both Henry and Minister of Health Adrian Dix stressed that it is critical that everyone in BC follow public health guidelines around social distancing measures — especially young people.

As of the writing of this article, there were no new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in BC according to the Public Health Agency of Canada. The provincial total remains at 73, while the nationwide total is 304.

“When we ask people to wash their hands regularly, that’s playing a part. When we ask you to throw away kleenexes and not touch your face, that’s playing a part. When we ask you to support other people in the community, that’s playing a part.”
