"Let me explain how we purify our pool water here at UBC. The Aquatic Centre’s disinfection system uses both chlorine and UV (ultra violet) as well as pressurized filter media which result in excellent water quality and higher energy efficiency."
"In an AMA on Reddit, the members of Solidarity for Palestinian Human Rights (SPHR) attempted to answer questions from UBC students on what the BDS referendum will look like, as well as their views on the Israel-Palestine situation."
"BDS is NOT a pro-Palestinian movement, but rather an anti-Israel movement. Instead of divesting from absolutely anything that has to do with Israel, we could be putting forward a referendum to invest in Palestinian companies."
"As someone who has been working closely with Solidarity for Palestinian Human Rights and supports BDS, but first and foremost as a student who deeply cares about justice and my fellow students’ safety, I feel compelled to respond."
"But if you’re just drinking casually and still ending up sad, it might be just how you are when you’re drunk. Are you going through a stressful time? Are you worried about something? I also have the pleasure of being a generally happy drunk..."
Agenda items can seem long, mysterious and confusing without the proper background, making it difficult to see how these issues affect students. Here’s what to watch out for in the upcoming AMS Council meeting on March 29.
“My religion and politics professor is one of the most respected scholars in his field — someone whose articles I’ve been reading since first-year. I had a not-so-mild case of scholarly fangirling when I realized that.”
"I usually walk around campus at night with my headphones in, music blaring, staring at my phone. I’m a big guy and usually feel comfortable enough on campus to be plugged in, even in poorly lit corners of campus at night."
"Now that you've fallen for the clickbait, let me make myself abundantly clear — I’m an English Honours and Economics student with nothing but the greatest respect and regard for the skills, experience and knowledge."
"The architecture made me feel like a Scandinavian aqua babe and the facility itself reminded me that recreational swimming was a pretty great way to get exercise and relieve stress. Then, just as I was most vulnerable, the chlorine betrayed me."
"New city, who dis? In the last article, I was still in the beautiful — although quiet — city of Bordeaux, France. Now I'm in the bustling metropolis of 23+ million inhabitants that is Shanghai, China."
If you hate the pattern, break it. Ask if they want to go on a date doing something you've never done before. Cooking class? Wine and painting? Rent bikes and ride around Stanley Park? Get our there and get moving. Force your relationship to move.
What goes on in the Senate chambers can often feel very overwhelming or dull to the average student, and the dockets posted before every Senate meeting can be long and tedious to read. Here’s what to expect at the March 2017 Senate meeting.
"The University of Texas at Austin is in the heart of the city. While standing in the courtyard under the main building’s clock tower, one can see the rose-coloured capitol building dome in the distance at the end of the street."
