Pooja Bhatti has been elected as the next AMS VP Administration. She beat out Faraz Nikzad and Julien Hart for the title. “I’m so shocked, and it feels incredible!” said Bhatti, engulfed in hugs from her friends.

In an unsurprising result, Alim Lakhiyalov was voted in as the next VP Finance of the AMS. Lakhiyalov ran unopposed after the other candidate dropped out of the race before the first debate, but ran a strong campaign.

This evening at the Pit, it was announced that Sally Lin, one of two candidates for AMS VP external this year, has won the position of VP External against Dario Garousian. Lin’s platform consisted of three main pillars.

Ehrenholz, although he initially campaigned as a joke candidate, was the only one who had previously worked in student government. His win today marks the first time that a joke candidate has won the AMS presidency.

The AMS “Mock Refugee Camp” featured eight stalls representing the various challenges faced by those living in refugee camps such as the lack of food and water, the lack of infrastructure and insufficient medical aid.

There are five candidates for president in this year’s AMS Elections. In this debate, candidates were questioned about their lack of experience, the sexual assault policy — for the second time — and the lack of diversity in this year’s elections.

Aside from holding various executive positions on campus, Brewer does not have any other leadership experience. He believes his approachability, neutrality and capacity to communicate make him well-suited for the role of President.
