On Thursday UBC announced that it has been the target of what they are identifying as a “brute force attack” against their identity management infrastructure. Students and staff may be asked to reset their passwords as a result of the attack.

Currently there are three major university administrations positions being filled by interim personnel. So who are these new officials, why did the old ones leave and what do they even do within the university?

BC minister for Translink, Peter Fassbender, participated in an AMS-organized transit town hall meeting in the Nest on Thursday to answer students’ questions about the future of Vancouver’s transit system.
“From the research and international standpoint — mostly the research standpoint — it was pretty much a universal good news budget,” said John Hepburn, UBC’s vice-president research and international.
“There's nothing [people] have to lose,” said Pamela Melo, VendChat’s marketing director. “They download it. If they find it useful, they use it. If they don’t, they can delete it — but they have donated.”
UBC came under fire last November for allegations by other students at Green College where the assailant, Dmirty Mordvinov, was living, that UBC did not appropriately respond to their claims of aggressive behaviour by Mordvinov.
“It’s been on our radar, but I would say absolutely that [The Ubyssey’s previous] story and the petition have made my office more aware that we really have to do something because it’s perceived as a valuable service.”
The Bike Co-op and Kitchen, Sprouts, the Aqua Society and the Pottery Club are among those that will be moved to new spaces around campus once the renovations to the old SUB begins this summer, which the AMS believes will confer long term benefits.
