The only characters with any real chemistry between them were Max Holmes and Dylan Braam. One of the debate scenes had like nine people crammed into one long table, in the most pointless reference to “The Last Supper” I’ve ever seen.
Hidden away in Irving K. Barber Library, the Rare Books and Special Collections section of the UBC Library has hundreds upon hundreds of materials so fancy that no one is even allowed to browse them without asking first.
It was in these moments of connection, both during the show and after the performance, that Manual Cinema showed the audience that paying respects to someone you admire also means following your dreams with compassion and the courage to create.
