Ava Nasiri took away the big win — the “Queen of Clubs,” as she was referred to by the elections administrator, was elected the 107th president of the AMS. On elections night, Nasiri said her only response was being humbled and honoured.

Ross Horton appears to have left under good terms. In an email to staff, Bailey said he “would like to personally thank Ross for his hard work, dedication and commitment to supporting the students of UBC and the student leadership of the AMS.”
Thunderbird Shiayli Toni opened the scoring in the game. At the eighth minute of the first period she scored her first goal of the post-season off of an assist from ’Birds Cailey Hay and Jenna Carpenter-Boesch.
In a result that surprised absolutely nobody, Louis Retief has been elected as next year’s AMS VP Finance. Although he was the sole candidate running for the position, he was nonetheless very excited about his victory.
Omassi also mentioned being happy with the diverse group of people elected for the position. The Ubyssey was unable to reach Dawson, Castro and Williams for comment. However, the two that were visibly celebrating in the Pit were happy.
Kathleen Simpson won the position of VP External amid cheers and frenzied shouting. “I’m just so overwhelmed, I’m just grateful that my team is so awesome,” said Simpson. Throughout her campaign, Simpson emphasized her focus on long-term goals.
Opponent Alan Ehrenholz had occupied a diversity of positions, that many saw as a solid foundation for engagement. However, it appears that Scott's experience with the VP Admin portfolio and his strong debate performances won the day.
Veronica Knott and Aaron Bailey will be representing students next year on the UBC Board of Governors. Knott served as BoG representative for students last year, and Bailey served as AMS president in 2015-16.
Samantha So beat Hussam Zbeeb and Andrew Liang to the post of AMS Academic and University Affairs. "I'm so psyched," said So. "I'm really eager to carry out the things that I planned out and learned during my election."
Her win came as something of a surprise to her — she told The Ubyssey that she hadn't been expecting it. “I had no idea. Jenna is so phenomenal and amazing and talented and hard-working that I had absolutely no idea, it was hard to judge,” she said.
