Nominations for the annual AMS elections open tomorrow, January 10. Students can serve one-year terms on the AMS executive team, the Board of Governors (BoG), the Senate and the Student Legal Fund Society (SLFS). Any UBC student can nominate themselves for these positions.
AMS VP Academic and University Affairs (VP AUA) Dana Turdy is taking a leave of absence for “mental health, family and personal reasons,” according to AMS President Eshana Bhangu.
Turpel-Lafond’s departure comes three months after a CBC article said her claims to Cree ancestry do not appear to match historical records or anecdotes from Norway House Cree Nation community members, where Turpel-Lafond said her father is from.
