LeBlanc, who received his Ph.D. from UBC in environmental microbiology in 2015 is hoping to continue his predecessor’s legacy of pushing forward an agenda that strongly promotes sustainability within the Metro Vancouver regional district.

At its September 12 meeting, AMS Council unanimously approved the appointments of Frank Ju as ombudsperson and Halla Bertrand as elections administrator, who will both serve the student population independently from the AMS.
While there is currently an introductory course on Indigenous writing, this will mark an expansion of the current Indigenous-focused curriculum to likely include more upper-level undergraduate courses and even potentially some graduate level courses.

"What we’re trying to do is recruit from French immersion graduates here in BC, to grow our own population of French language teachers here and to work closely with faculties of arts and language departments,” she said.

“It’s a discussion that really needs to happen after we develop an MoU and further understand the academic use [of the brewery] and how much is going to be brewed out of this,” he said. “Right now, the focus is on getting an MoU.”
In a joint ceremony on October 19, both universities will formally award their respective honorary doctorate of laws degrees — which recognize outstanding achievement or significant contribution to the public good — to the Aga Khan.
